If youвЂ™re using an iGPU for video, the lanes are effectively not вЂњroutedвЂќ or вЂњallocatedвЂќ to any device path external to the CPU and are more or less just physically вЂњhooked upвЂќ to the back panel video connectors. When you use a discrete GPU, these PCIe lanes are вЂњroutedвЂќ to the PCIe slot (or two) closest to the CPU socket. These lanes come directly off of the processor itself and do not go through a system chipset / IO controller. If my understanding is correct, modern processors have PCIe lanes dedicated for the GPU. Specifically, when youвЂ™re using a processorвЂ™s iGPU. *Requires additional USB 3.0 19-pin female to USB 2.Complete guess here, but I wonder if the motherboard header has to do with video.
